Delaney's

Review

This venue offers a truly unique dining experience that blends sophistication with a cozy, old-world charm. As you approach from the side entrance, you step into a bar area that feels straight out of a 1920s speakeasy; intimate, atmospheric, and rich with deep wood tones and brick hues. The restaurant itself strikes the perfect balance of elegance and warmth, with white table linens and a relaxed, yet refined ambiance that invites you to enjoy a leisurely, unhurried meal.

Ambiance:

From the moment you enter, you’re enveloped in the restaurant’s elegant yet cozy setting. The interior’s rich wood accents and brick walls create a timeless, sophisticated vibe that’s both welcoming and intimate. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy an evening without feeling rushed, savoring every course at your own pace.

Drinks:

The drinks here are crafted with care, and we were not disappointed. The Korbel Old Fashioned was a hit, perfectly balanced and delicious. I opted for a Lemon Drop Martini, which was fresh and fantastic. Everyone was equally pleased with the Manhattans, each one made to perfection.

Meal:

The meal is where this venue truly shines, offering an array of dishes that are all made from scratch, from the bread to the entrees. The warm, homemade bread served with butter is a perfect way to begin the meal; soft, slightly crusty, and full of flavor.

  • Braised Pork Shank: A standout dish, this shank practically fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Served with mashed potatoes and sweet and sour cabbage, it was drenched in au jus sauce that added a rich depth of flavor.

  • 20oz Ribeye with Truffle Butter and Al-‘Oscar’: The ribeye, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, was a carnivore’s dream. The truffle butter and “Oscar” (which we believe was a nod to the famous Oscar-style topping of crab and hollandaise) added an indulgent richness that complemented the steak beautifully. On the side, crispy hash browns added the perfect crunch.

  • Wedge Salad: A classic, but done right with crispy bacon, red onion, and tomatoes, paired with French and Blue Cheese dressings—simple yet satisfying.

  • Pan-Fried Walleye: Don’t miss out on this dish! The walleye was as good as any you’d find in the Northwoods, with a perfectly crispy exterior and tender, flaky fish inside.

Final Thoughts:

The overall feel of the venue is one of timeless elegance. Every detail, from the food to the ambiance, contributes to an experience that’s both sophisticated and relaxed. This is the kind of place where you can linger over your meal, enjoy great conversation, and truly appreciate the care that goes into every dish. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out, this venue offers a dining experience that feels both classic and indulgent, one that you’ll be eager to revisit
