Lanny’s Fireside Supper Club

Review

You can’t miss the charming restaurant called Lanny’s Fireside along Highway 45, known for its German-inspired dishes and exceptional service. The building itself has a German architectural style, adding to the atmosphere. The staff’s friendly and attentive service seems to be a standout feature, making dining there a memorable experience. The combination of great food and top-notch service makes it a must-stop destination.

Ambiance:

Lanny’s Fireside offers an ambiance that perfectly blends cozy comfort with a warm, welcoming charm. It evokes the feeling of enjoying a fireside meal tucked away in the hills of old Germany. The rustic booths, crackling fireplace, and rich green carpeting transport you to a bygone era, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that feels both timeless and inviting.

Salad and Relish Tray:

While Lanny’s Fireside doesn't feature a formal salad bar, their table-side offerings of soup and salad are wonderfully fresh, complemented by house-made dressings and unique recipes. To accompany the meal, they serve warm, freshly baked bread with rich, creamy butter, along with crispy crostini topped with an array of delicious spreads.

Drinks:

When it came to the drink selections, we all opted for Korbel Old Fashioneds, and they certainly crafted some of the best we've ever had. I highly recommend sticking with this choice—it's a decision you won't regret.

Meal:

As a huge fan of German cuisine, I can confidently say that Lanny’s Fireside did not disappoint. The rouladen was absolutely incredible – tender, braised beef stuffed with a savory blend of onions, bacon, and pickles, all wrapped up in a perfect balance of flavors. We also enjoyed the tenderloin tips, which were seasoned to perfection and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The house-made gnocchi was delightfully fresh and pillowy. Out of all the dishes, my top recommendation would be the rouladen or the schnitzel – both are must-try favorites!

Service:

The service at Lanny's was truly unparalleled. Recently, many of our supper club outings have included my young son, and as any parent knows, dining out with an infant or toddler can be challenging for servers and stressful for parents. However, our server went above and beyond to accommodate us. They timed my son's dishes perfectly, brought him crayons and a coloring sheet, and ensured he was comfortable and well-attended throughout the meal. In the 20+ supper clubs we've visited together recently, we’ve never experienced such thoughtful, attentive service. Anyone who takes the extra effort to be kind and considerate to children earns a solid 5++ stars in my book. Our server made tailored recommendations and truly enhanced our dining experience. It was a lovely evening all around.

Final Thoughts:

For all the reasons mentioned above, Lanny's is hands down my favorite supper club in the Northwoods. From their homemade, expertly crafted dishes to cocktails that always hit the mark, and service that makes every visit a true pleasure, it’s a place that never disappoints. I eagerly look forward to dining here again and again.

Of note, I would highly recommend timing your meal to also be able to attend the Conover Ski Show across the street-Home | Chain Skimmers Water Ski Show Team.  Please look on their Facebook site for show schedules.
